Cashed up fans of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race series - Germany's answer to V8 Supercars - will be able to live out their racing fantasies with a limited-edition version of BMW's M4 Coupe.
Built to celebrate German racer Marco Wittman's 2014 and 2016 DTM titles, the new BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is a $295,000 showcase for the brand's latest go-fast technology.
Based on the sold-out BMW M4 GTS coupe, the new machine features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine with 368kW and 600Nm outputs - 51kW and 50Nm more than a normal M4 - heading to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car uses cutting-edge water injection technology to cool intake temperatures, allowing it to make reliable power in trying conditions.
BMW has also equipped the car with a titanium exhaust system, ceramic brakes, a high-downforce aero kit and staggered 19-inch and 20-inch alloys with sticky Michelin semi-slick tyres.
