It’s been 30 years since BMW unveiled the first ever M3 - a car that went on to set the benchmark for the high performance medium market.

Originally offered as a coupe, powered by a high-output four-cylinder engine, the M3 has changed over the years to include sedan and convertible versions, as well as six- and eight-cylinder engines.

In its current iteration the M3 is offered as a four-door sedan, powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six that produces 317kW and 550Nm in standard form - a far cry from the original’s 143kW.
