BMW 8 Series On The Radar Again

BMW is again rumoured to be considering a comeback for its luxury 8 Series coupe, eyeing off a 2020 launch date.

That’s the word from Automobile Mag, which reports BMW is keen to ensure it has an alternative to the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz in both coupe and cabrio form in its fleet.

The carmaker’s rumoured 9 Series is now said to be on the backburner, as BMW looks to the simpler option of altering its existing 7 Series - rather than go all-out with a tech-laden and uber-expensive new model.

BMW’s CLAR platform will reportedly underpin the new 8 Series before it goes into retirement which could rule out an all-electric 8 Series variant.
