Some of the more obvious M Performance parts include the easily identifiable 20-inch matte black and machined alloy wheels (also available in single-tone grey), carbon fibre front and rear bumper extensions, mirror caps, black grille, bodyside decals, side sill extensions, and a rear spoiler available in either carbon fibre or polyurethane.
Aside from the visual enhancements, the M Performance range for the 5-Series also includes an upgraded brake package with lightweight perforated discs, four-piston front calipers and single piston floating rear calipers, finished in red and an M Performance Active Sound exhaust system for diesel models.
On the inside, an M Performance Alcantara-clad steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock maker and silver-grey seam stitching is available, integrated with paddle shifters for vehicles equipped with BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission.
Under the bonnet, power and sound upgrade kits are also available for the 540i bringing a further 25kW and 50Nm for totals of 265kW and 500Nm without affecting fuel consumption, adding in an M Performance exhaust silencer as part of the package.
An upgrade pack will also be made available for the 530d in the seconf quarter of 2017, pusing the diesel model’s figures up by 20kW and 30Nm to 215kW and 650Nm, resulting in reduced acceleration times without affecting fuel consumption.
