BMW's upcoming 3 Series GT has been spied testing once more, ahead of a reported debut at next year's Geneva Motor Show.
British magazine Autocar reports that the tall new 3 Series variant will debut first as a thinly-veiled concept, much as the brand did with its 6 Series Gran Coupe.
Talk of a smaller version of the 5 Series GT first hit the rumour mill in early 2009, followed later in the year by confirmation from BMW boss Norbert Reithofer.
The 3 Series GT name remains unconfirmed however, and it is possible that BMW will add this model to the reported 4 Series range - which is expected to also take over the Coupe and Cabriolet duties of the 3 Series range.
It is likely that the new model will share its platform with the all-new 3, and engine options should mirror those offered with the sedan, including naturally-aspirated and turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines.
The 3 Series GT won't be the last BMW to wear a Gran Turismo badge on its rump either.
Sometime in late 2013 or early 2014, BMW is expected to launch the 1 Series Gran Turismo, a front-wheel drive partner to the F20 1 Series hatch that puts a greater emphasis on interior space and utility.
