BMW Australia is set to bring the entry price of its 1 Series Coupe line-up into the sub-$50k range, with the introduction in May of the 120i Coupe.

Priced from $47,400 (plus on-roads), the 120i Coupe will slot into the range beneath the current entry model, the six-cylinder 125i, which starts at $55,600 for the six-speed manual version.

The 120i Coupe is powered by the same 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine available in the hatch, with outputs rated at 115kW and 200Nm of torque.

In hatch form, the petrol engine lists fuel consumption figures of 7.9 l/100km on the combined cycle. The 120i Coupe will likely return similar figures.

While the most affordable model in the 1 Series Coupe range, the 120i is well-equipped. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats with electric backrest and Boston leather trim, a sports leather steering wheel, cruise control and rear parking sensors.

Other features standard for the 120i include fog lights, 60:40 split-fold rear seats, a storage compartment package, rain sensors, six-speed audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and the usual BMW active and passive safety features.

Pricing and Availability

The 120i Coupe can be ordered now, priced from $47,400 (plus on-road costs). Deliveries will begin in May.
