Australian Concept To Debut At AIMS

The Australian International Motor Show will host the world premiere of a new concept vehicle from Australian coachbuilders Woods & Woods.

The father and son team of David and Jayson Woods have taken their inspiration from classic 1930s designs, promising a one-of-a-kind concept.

"We've always wanted to build our own vehicle based upon early European and American designs, but in a way that no-one else has done before," Jayson Woods said.

"Whilst it's taken only 12 months to build, I actually first thought this car up when I was at school, so it's really been decades in the making."

Woods & Woods is a coachwork and body restoration business situated in Woy Woy on the NSW Central Coast.

A quick look at their website reveals their inspirations, with restoration projects including a 25/30 HP Rolls Royce and a 1936 MX Derby Bentley.

The car they'll be showing in Sydney is one they have built from the ground up.

The Australian show is no stranger to world premieres, with the debuts of the Holden Efijy and Commodore Coupe (later Monaro) concepts prominent in its history.

"We are proud to be exhibiting this vehicle from Woods and Woods and providing them with a platform to showcase their skills,"  Show Director Russ Tyrie said.

"David and Jayson are an inspiration and an example of when people put their minds to something, how it can be achieved."

The Woods' are displaying the car in the hope that the concept will draw enough attention to allow them to build a street-legal version in limited numbers.

The Woods & Woods crew offered no further technical information, revealing only a dark teaser that brings to mind Bugatti and Rolls-Royce cars of the thirties, and even a little of modern compatriot Bufori.

It is Sydney's turn for the motor show this year. The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will open at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from October 19-28.
