Audi has revealed an even hotter version of its already mean S8 limo. Not a fully fledged RS8, the new model wears the S8 Plus title.

The S8 Plus features a more powerful 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 that produces 445kW of power and 700Nm of torque, with an additional 50Nm in overboost mode. That’s 63kW and 50-100Nm more than the standard S8

For reference, that surpasses the 5.5 litre twin turbo of Mercedes-Benz S63 limo by 10kW (but is still up to 200Nm down on torque) and allows the S8 Plus to sprint from 0-100km/h in a scant 3.8 seconds.

The 4.0 litre engine differs from the standard S8 with a modified engine control unit, modified exhaust valves and revised inner geometry of the turbochargers.

Drive is transferred to the Quattro all wheel drive system with sport differential via Audi’s eight-speed automatic transmission.

Both the dynamic steering and sports air suspension have been specifically tuned for the S8 Plus. The car rolls on specially designed 21-inch wheels shod with 275/35 tyres.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h, but buyers in some markets will be able to add a dynamic package that lifts top speed to 305km/h. The dynamic package also brings a sport exhaust and carbon ceramic brakes clamped by anthracite grey calipers.

Visually the S8 plus can be spotted by its gloss black grille, carbon framed gloss black rear diffuser, and rear lip spoiler available in body colour or carbon fibre.

There’s also mirror caps in gloss black or carbon fibre, black oval exhaust tips, darkened taillights, and gloss black window surrounds.

On the inside the S8 Plus wears black leather with contrasting Arras red stitching and piping, as well as black Alcantara covering the roof lining and parcel shelf. Piano black trim highlights adorn the centre console with carbon fibre and aluminium across the dash and doors.

The S8 Plus launches internationally in November. An Australian debut is yet to be confirmed.
