Audi TT Offroad Set For Production: Report

Audi is set to build a jacked-up and slightly more practical version of its TT sports car, if reports out of Europe are to be believed.

The German carmaker appears keen on the idea, having put the feelers out twice in 2014 through two TT concepts.

Last year’s Detroit Auto Show saw the unveiling of the TT Allroad Shooting Brake Concept before the similar TT Offroad Concept (pictured, top of page) went on display in Beijing three months later.

Each was designed to preview the new TT’s styling, but the UK’s Car reports that at least one of them will soon be put into production.

And it’s expected to be the Offroad Concept from the Beijing Auto Show rather than the Allroad, based on a belief the Allroad’s interior would be overly cramped in production guise.

The Allroad’s shooting brake styling was also deemed a liability, as the model may only be popular in European markets.
