Audi is tipped to offer a preview of its upcoming Q2 small crossover at this week’s Paris Motor Show.

According to UK mag Autocar, sources within Audi have suggested that the future model will be hinted at with a concept known as the ‘Crosslane Coupe’.

The report suggests the model will have an overall length of 4250mm, positioning it between new three-door A3 hatch and the existing Q3 SUV.

The mooted ‘Coupe’ nameplate suggests the concept may employ a three-door bodystyle, whereas the production Q2 is expected to use a more conventional five-door layout, with an X6-like coupe roofline.

A range-extended hybrid drivetrain is also expected for the concept, using a 1.5 litre three cylinder combustion engine and 87kW electric motor, with a reported 128km all-electric range.

The production Q2 is expected to launch with more conventional petrol and diesel Volkswagen Group engines, but the concept’s hybrid drivetrain could be a firm sign of what’s to come for future small Volkswagen Group models.

Platform wise, the Crosslane Coupe is expected to use a version of Volkswagen's MQB architecture.

A production Q2 is not expected until 2015, but keep an eye on TMR for any updates from the Audi stand in Paris.
