Audi's new A6 flagship - the RS 6 - has surfaced once again in its Avant wagon garb, with our spy photographers capturing the car hammering around the Nurburgring.
Set to enter the A6 range above the current range-topping S6 model, the RS 6 test car shown here is wearing massively flared guards, along with large five-spoke wheels and big ceramic brake discs.
The car has also been given the usual tweaks up front, with larger RS-specific air intakes and foglight cutouts flanking the familiar Audi grille.
The familiar large RS exhaust tips have now also been fitted to the car, and the circular wheel flares of the earlier mule have given way to the box flares that have become a styling hallmark.
Power for the new RS 6 is rumoured to come from the same 4.0 litre TFSI bi-turbo V8 driving the new S6 and Bentley's new V8 Continental GT.
In RS 6 form however, a new report by Britain's Autocar suggests output will climb to a huge 426kW - matching the V10 of the old model, and pushing the V8 far beyond the 373kW of the Bentley and 309kW of the S6.
With the new BMW M5 punching out an already monstrous 415kW from its 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8, Audi looks to have its sight set on leading the pack.

Great exciting products from Audi, but the resale was a killer blow on 4 year lease, back to BMW..high resale models.:-))B-/
1M aside, I just find it hard to get interested in the BMW product line right now. Somehow they've taken some of the worlds best cars and made them all look stupid. I wouldn't pay $1 for a stupid looking car. Mind you, Audis have a habit of dating (getting old looking) overnight. Except for the mighty RS4, which is eternally youthful and still sets my crotch on fire :-))
