A sedan version of the red-hot Audi RS 3 Sportback is on the way, if these leaked photos from an official Audi event are to be believed.
Posted on Instagram yesterday, these two photos clearly show an A3-sized sedan with big wheels, an aggressive aero kit and the signature silver mirror covers of Audi Sport - the subsidiary responsible for Audi's hottest road and track models.
The badge in the grille may be a bit fuzzy, but the numberplate below it confirms that this is indeed the RS 3 sedan many have been waiting for.
The photos were reportedly taken at an invitation-only function for Audi customers, with the car presumably set to make a more public showing in the near future - most likely at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
The RS 3 sedan's saw-tooth headlamps also hint at what's coming for the Audi A3 range's mid-cycle facelift that's due this year.
As for what's under the bonnet, don't expect anything other than the RS 3 Sportback's 2.5 litre turbocharged inline five. There's an outside chance that power may rise from the Sportback's 270kW/465Nm numbers, but that's all still to be confirmed.
The rest of the RS 3 sedan's greasy bits should be identical to the Sportback's with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic pumping power and torque into Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system and electronically adjustable dampers keeping the RS 3 sedan's body in check.
