Audi's brand-new Q3 could soon have a little brother, if reports of an even smaller Q2 crossover are to be believed.

Like the reported BMW X6-inspired Q4 and Q6, the small Q2 would likely offer a sportier look than the new Q3 small SUV and the rumoured Q1 light crossover.

Britain's Auto Express magazine claims a Range Rover Evoque-like three-door bodystyle will set the Q2 apart, with a sloping roofline and a four-seat layout inside.

The Q2 would likely be followed by the so-called Q1. With both SUVs entering as high-riding alternatives to the A1 light car, the Q1 would offer a regular five-door design, similar to the small Q3 and midsized Q5.

The report adds that the A1 light car's engine range will feature the 136kW 1.4 litre TFSI and a 1.6 litre diesel engine.

While the new SUVs could share their engines with the A1, both would likely ride on the new MQB group platform system, making them more advanced than the A1 hatch.

The Q2 would face off against the likes of MINI's upcoming Countryman Coupe, and Nissan's top-selling European-market Juke crossover.
