Audi’s hybrid-powered A6 has reportedly been scrapped, after the large sedan attracted just 4000 customers worldwide.
Of that paltry figure, around 3200 were sold in Asia, while an expected launch into the hybrid-loving US market never eventuated.
The model was launched in 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show, and now Car And Driver reports Audi won’t be building any more.
Powered by a petrol-electric arrangement that saw a 155kW 2.0 TFSI petrol engine paired with a 33kW/211Nm electric motor, the A6 Hybrid could reach 100km/h on electric power alone.
Using both methods of propulsion, the A6 Hybrid could reach 100km/h from rest in 7.3 seconds, and returned a fuel figure of 6.2 l/100km.
