Audi has handed down a first look at its coming LA Auto Show styling concept, believed to preview a new 'A9' flagship model.

The concept is also expected to preview an evolved styling direction for the luxury brand, penned by new design boss Marc Lichte.

Lichte, who replaces Wolfgang Egger as Audi’s overall design lead, comes to the four-ringed brand from Volkswagen.

There, he worked on the exterior styling of the Scirocco, the new Beetle, and several generations of the Golf hatch.

Both brands share an affinity for sharp lines and tight angles, although Litche’s work with the Scirocco and Beetle reveal that the 45 year-old German is as much ‘at home’ with a Burmester curve.
