According to Russian website Cars.ru, which uncovered the images this week, the A1 Sportback will retain the dimensions of the current three-door model, including its 2469mm wheelbase.
On the outside, the A1 Sportback's styling is largely unchanged, with only the addition of the rear doors and a longer roofline setting it apart from the three-door.
Expect the A1 Sportback to be offered with the same engine options and trim grades that feature in the current line-up, including the 90 and 136kW 1.4 TFSI engines and the 66kW 1.6 TDI diesel.
An official unveiling date for the A1 Sportback has yet to be announced, but next month's Tokyo Motor Show or January's Detroit Auto Show could be on the cards.
