If its name is a mouthful, so is its engine. Powered by a turbo- and super-charged 1.4 litre petrol engine, the Sport produces 136kW and 250Nm of torque.
The 1.4 TFSI's mechanical, engine-driven supercharger hits its stride at 1500rpm, disengaging at 2400rpm and handing boost duties over to the turbocharger.
Paired to a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, the TFSI Sport lists fuel consumption figures of 5.9 l/100km - compared to 5.3 l/100km for the regular A1.
Front-wheel-drive (natch), Audi's latest little A1 hot-box will cover the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 227km/h.
The Sport is fitted with sports suspension as standard, including MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam design with separated springs and dampers at the rear. The front track measures 1477mm, and the rear 1471mm.
An optional S Line suspension package is also available, offering stiffer spring and damper settings.
The ANCAP 5-Star A1's safety features include six airbags - two front, thorax and pelvis side airbags and full-length head airbags - along with belt tensioners, tension limiters and Audi's integral head restraint system.
Standard features include xenon-plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and LED interior lighting, along with a 6.5 inch full-colour screen, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and light and rain sensors.
Optional extras include MMI navigation systems and a 465-watt Bose surround sound system with 14 speakers.
