Sure to bring joy to Honda fans - or at least those building a racing Integra or Civic Type R in the garage - is the release by Quaife Engineering of a five-speed sequential gearkit for the EP3 and FN2 versions of the Honda Civic Type R and DC5 Intregra.

Distributed exclusively by Momentum Motorsport UK (contact details below), and designed for track use, the new sequential transmission is a direct replacement for the standard six-speed H-pattern Honda transmission.

The Quaife QKE8J package includes a replacement strengthened outer gearbox casing (transmission housing), plus gear lever and cable and incorporates an additional support bearing between 4th and 5th gear.

It features wide straight-cut close-ratio gears to minimise transmission losses and a drum style sequential gearchange mechanism with an 'open face' dog design for ultra rapid shifts. (Quaife also offers the choice of a helical gearset for serious time-attack track day use.)

The original Honda clutch, differential, driveshafts and mounting points are retained, as is the original EP3/FN2/DC5 bellhousing half of the transmission casing. There is also the option of an LED digital gear position indicator (for when things really get hectic), and an additional final drive ratio.

It won't be cheap (POA, no published pricing as yet), but will transform that 'time attack' Civic Type R EP3 you've been working on the past two years.
