Aston Martin's V8 Vantage has come in for what the British brand describes as its most comprehensive update since 2008, snagging a bag of Vantage S features along the way.

For 2012, the 4.7 litre V8 that drives Aston's entry-level coupe gets a boost to Vantage S spec, up from 313kW and 470Nm of torque to 320kW and 490Nm.

Other bits grabbed from the top-shelf S grade include 380mm two-piece ventilated front discs and six-piston calipers, along with a new re-valved power-steering pump and a quicker steering ratio, up from 15:1 to 17:1.

The V8 Vantage holds onto its standard six-speed manual transmission, but buyers opting for the 'auto' now get the seven-speed Sportshift II system, replacing the old six-speed.

Styling updates include the front splitter from the Vantage S, along with a new rear diffuser design and re-shaped side skirts.

Watch for the tweaked V8 Vantage Coupe and Roadster to hit Australian showrooms in the coming months.
