The V12 Zagato, a limited-edition collaboration by Aston Martin and specialist coachbuilder Zagato, has made its production debut this week.
Limited to just 150 cars, the Zagato will get an official unveiling at next week's Kuwait Concours d'Elegance, followed by a showing at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
“Our relationship with Zagato stretches back more than 50 years. Together in that time we have created a series of very special cars," Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez said.
"The first – the DB4GT Zagato – is a true icon: fast, beautiful and incredibly desirable. In the V12 Zagato I believe we have captured the spirit of that car and combined it with a confident twist of modernity to give it a character all of its own.”
As with last year's concept, the V12 Zagato is powered by the same 5.9 litre engine that powers the 'regular' V12 Vantage, delivering 380kW and 570Nm of torque.
Thanks to an especially light-weight design however, the duo promises a 0-100km/h sprint time "under" 4.0 seconds, which will make it at least three one-hundredths of a second quicker than the Vantage.
A fine difference, to be sure. Still, buyers of the V12 Zagato are more likely to be drawn by its custom styling, its instant rarity status, and even its £330,000 price tag - about twice what you'd pay for a new V12 Vantage in the UK.
The V12 Zagato features a hand-crafted aluminium roof and doors, along with a carbon-fibre boot lid and door sills
Production of the V12 Zagato is scheduled to kick off later this year, and with right-hand drive versions on the cards, Australian availability has been confirmed by Aston Martin's local arm.
Expect to hand over close to a million clams if you're in the market.
