Aston Martin’s first mid-engined supercar, the AM-RB 001 will be joined by more mid-engine sports car from the British marque as early as 2020.
While the AM-RB 001 has sold-out its entire 175-vehicle production run, company CEO Andy Palmer told reporters at the Toronto Auto Show in Canada at least one more mid-engined car will follow after the Mercedes-AMG powered Vanquish (due next year) and the DBX crossover which is slated for launch in 2019.
Mr Palmer said the AM-RB 001 “pilots what would be our design DNA for a mid-engine car, which obviously implies that there’s a mid-engine car in our future.”
It remains to be seen how much of the AM-RB 001’s composite construction, supreme aerodynamics and 6.5-litre V12 hybrid drivetrain flow-on to the next mid-engined Aston Martin.
