The Aston Martin DBS, despite being torn to shreds on two occasions by James Bond, remains the British carmaker's flagship supercar.

Late next year, Aston's hero car will reportedly get a major update - just in time for "Bond 23" director Sam Mendes to destroy it.

The DBS is now into its fifth year on the job, and its progenitor - the DB9 - is positively ancient at eight years old. According to Britain's Autocar, we can expect a number of exterior and interior updates in late 2012.

Among the styling tweaks described are a new interpretation of the iconic Aston grille, along with sharper One-77 inspired character lines down the body.

The 2013 DBS will reportedly hold onto its current 5.9 litre V12 engine - which also powered the limited-edition V12 Zagao - but with power increased to around 400kW. Expect a number of efficiency and emissions-focused updates here also.

The updated DBS will be expected to hold the fort until around 2015 or 2016, when an all-new model is reportedly slated to arrive.
