Aston Martin describes it as its most important car since the DB9 of 2003, and now the all-new DB11 has arrived in Australia.

Well, we say ‘arrived’, but just a single example of the stylish new coupe has set rubber on home soil, and it will never turn a wheel on a local public road.

Fans won’t have long to wait before they start to see DB11s on Australian roads for real, however, with first deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter this year.

And the price for Aston’s most-significant model in well over a decade? From $428,032 plus on-road costs - which sees it enter the market well above the $368,500 DB9 coupe that it will eventually replace.

For your hard-earned, buyers will be treated to Aston’s home-grown 5.2 litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine, resting upon an all-new frame which is lighter, stronger and more space-efficient than its outgoing counterpart.

With 447kW and 700Nm on tap, the DB11 is easily the most powerful DB model to ever wear the Aston badge, but the carmaker says the DB11 is the most efficient DB as well.

The 100km/h mark arrives on the speedo from rest in 3.9 seconds, and Aston Martin says the DB11 will top out at 322km/h.

As important as the new powerplant is, the aerodynamic package is arguably more important as Aston has invested much effort in clever aerodynamics to keep the bodywork of the DB11 ‘clean’.

That means, among other things, that the DB11 doesn’t require a rear wing; instead relying on smart airflow features including a pair of boot-mounted, rear-facing vents that exit through a vent in the boot lip.

“We are thrilled to unveil DB11 in the Australian market,” President of Aston Martin in Asia Pacific, Patrik Nilsson, said.

“We are already experiencing unprecedented demand in this region for DB11, reaffirming the strong affinity for Aston Martin in Australia.”

Australia has also contributed more than just a marketplace for the DB11, with Aston using a 9998km test route (yep, two short of 10,000km…) encompassing Melbourne, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Katherine and Cairns before returning to Melbourne during the new model’s hot weather development phase.

The DB11 is the first vehicle in Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century’ strategy. The carmaker is going for a triple-pronged sales approach in Australia, hoping to lure existing Aston customers into the new model and former Aston owners back into the fold, while also attracting new buyers to the brand.

Following its Sydney debut, the DB11 show car will appear at the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth before departing Australia.
