Aston Martin Bertone Jet Wagon For Limited Production Run: Report

The Jet 2+2 wagonette, a joint project between Aston Martin and Bertone, could be bound for a limited production run, new reports suggest.

The wagonette was originally built as a one-off with the permission of Aston Martin for a private collector, and unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

But according to British magazine Autocar, the popularity of the wagon at the Geneva Motor Show could see it put forward for a limited production run.

Based on the Aston Martin Rapide, the production model could be known as the Aston Martin Radipe Shooting Brake; a move certain to assist sales, given the positive reaction to recent shooting brake models from other carmakers.

The model is likely to maintain the 2+2 seating arrangement, as per the one-off example.

Several hurdles would need to be overcome before the car could be put into production, not the least of which is legal issues. For example, the agreement between the private collector who requested the “one-off” wagonette and the Aston Martin / Bertone joint venture is unknown.

Other unknowns include the volume of the production run and whether it would be Bertone or Aston Martin (or both) taking on the project.

Both Aston Martin and Bertone are reportedly keen to see the project go ahead, and an Aston Martin Rapide Shooting Brake would be a flagship model for the British carmaker.
