On the heels of its extremely limited-edition One-77 supercar, Aston Martin is preparing to bring a new offering to the world stage - this time with renowned studio Zagato.

The first time the companies joined forces, we were introduced to the DB4GT Zagato, a restyled, lighter and track-ready version of the 'regular' DB4.

“Now is the right time for a new Aston Martin Zagato and in combining our design intelligence I think we can create something fitting of the iconic DB4GT Zagato that has gone before and since established itself as one of the most famous Aston Martins of all time," Aston Martin boss Dr Ulrich Bez said.

Only 19 of the specialised DB4GT cars were built, and astonishingly, each one lives on today - even with three special 'DP209' variants going on to racing careers.

In honour of that fact, Aston and Zagato will race their new supercar at the famed Nurburgring circuit on May 28 - one week after its unveiling in concept form at the Villa D'Este Concours in Italy on May 21.

Apart from a single teaser image (above), little else has been revealed of the special new concept. Aston has confirmed however that it is considering a limited production run in 2012, depending on customer feedback.
