A new round of crash testing has at last seen variants in Toyota's Hilux ute achieve a 5-Star safety rating with the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
The upgraded rating comes courtesy of success in new side pole impact testing, with improved knee protection and seat belt reminders figuring among the Hilux's upgrades.
News of the upgraded score will be of interest not only to private buyers, but also to fleet buyers, with many - including mining giant BHP Billiton - now requiring a 5-Star rating.
