The latest round of crash testing from the Australasian New Car Assesment Program Program (ANCAP) has revealed two new five-star recipients with the 2017 Subaru XV and Holden Astra Sedan scoring top marks.

Crash test data for the Subaru XV mirrors the results of the structurally identical Subaru Impreza on which it is based, which was tested by ANCAP in 2016 meaning an overall protection score of 35.8 out of 37 possible points.

The XV also received a ‘good’ rating for pedestrian protection and whiplash protection. Autonomous Emergency Braking is also available on the three higher-grade XV models, but not on the entry level XV 2.0i.
