The news of a 5-Star crash safety rating for the new RAV4 follows the announcement last month that the lower-tier models in the LandCruiser 200 Series range have also been upgraded to the top score.
Standard safety features with Toyota's new midsized SUV include dual frontal, side chest and side head (curtain) airbags, and a driver knee airbag as standard. Seat belt reminders are also present for all seats.
Depending on the trim grade, the RAV4 can also be equipped with adaptive front headlights, blind-spot monitoring, daytime running lights and a reversing camera.
The RAV4 made its Australian sales debut in February, launching from $28,490 (MLP) and debuting a host of new features and technologies for the model.
