KIA PROCEED GT SAFETY
Kia’s new sports hatch, the Pro_Cee’d GT, has boosted its appeal this week with news of a top 5-Star safety rating.
Based on tests carried out by sister organisation Euro NCAP, the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) this week confirmed the 5-Star rating for the local market.
ANCAP reports that driver and passenger chest protection in the frontal offset crash test was acceptable, as was leg protection. Protection in side pole testing also scored well, achieving the maximum two points.
Kia Australia’s new Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith said the result had been anticipated, “but it is always nice to have the official stamp of approval”.
“We have said previously that Kia’s intention is to produce all five-star cars and we will not be stepping away from that position,” Mr Meredith said.
Safety features standard in the Euro-built Pro_Cee’d GT include six airbags, reversing sensors, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BAS), six airbags, seat-belt reminder, impact-sensing door unlocking and three child seat anchors plus two ISOFIX child-seat mounting.
