Ford’s ‘FGX’ Falcon sedan and ute ranges have retained their top 5-Star safety score for 2015, thanks to a new round of Australasian New Car Assessment Program analysis.
Although based on crash tests carried out in 2008, ANCAP has determined that the Falcon’s existing crash structure and new safety enhancements are worthy of a top result under the program’s latest testing criteria.
For 2015, the overhauled Falcon range’s safety upgrades include the addition of front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera (sedan only) and Ford’s Emergency Assist communication system.
These join existing safety features that front/side/thorax airbags, Emergency Brake Assist, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and Dynamic Stability Control.
In the Falcon’s 2008 crash tests, and again under this latest ANCAP review, the Falcon’s occupant protection ratings varied from acceptable to good.
