Specifically, the new Giulia Veloce will make its debut, sporting two new engine options and Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive.
When launched, the Veloce will be available overseas with either a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine making 209kW/400Nm or an all-alloy (a first for Alfa) 2.2 litre diesel unit which is good for 157kW/470Nm. Both are matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior feature exclusive to the Veloce variant with Sport Pack include new bumpers, gloss black door trims, a double exhaust pipe and optional 19-inch alloy wheels. A new Blue Misano paint finish will be available for the Giulia Veloce.
Inside, the Luxury Pack adds black leather sports seats, a sports steering wheel, aluminium inserts for the dash, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control and more.
Safety features include forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, lane departure warning and speed-limited cruise control.
Alfa Romeo says the torque vectoring system in its Q4 AWD is designed to behave like a RWD vehicle during normal driving conditions. When traction is required from the front wheels, up to 60 percent of the engine’s output can be directed up front.
As 100 percent of engine output can be directed to the rear wheels, Q4 can also aid with reducing fuel consumption when compared to other AWD systems. Quadrifoglio models step-up the torque vectoring system to include power splits between individual wheels at the rear.
Joining the Giulia Veloce in Paris will be Veloce versions of both the Alfa Romeo Mito and Giulietta, along with two Giulia Super models and the Giulia Quadrifoglio. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will also be present.
Alfa has also outlined new “AE” (Advanced Efficiency) versions of the Giulia for 2017, which fuel figures as low as 4.2 l/100km in the 2.2 litre diesel.
