Alfa Romeo’s heroic new 4C coupe will make its Australian debut at Phillip Island this weekend, the company has confirmed.
Appearing ahead of its local sales launch, the 180kW 4C will act as safety car for the opening round of the 2014 World Superbike Championship.
The 4C was originally expected to hit Australian showrooms in the second quarter, but Alfa Romeo’s local office has now scheduled a late 2014 launch. Exact timing is still to be confirmed.
The Australia-Pacific region has been allocated around 100 launch-edition and 350 ‘regular’ versions of the 4C, although it remains unclear precisely how many will come to Australia.
And with Alfa Romeo Australia already holding expressions of interest from serious buyers, the 4C could be a sellout show before it even arrives.
Pricing is also unknown for now, although it is expected that, depending on the model, buyers could be forking out between $80,000 to $120,000.
TMR’s Tim O’Brien will be on hand for a hot lap in the shotgun seat of the 4C at Phillip Island this week, so stay tuned for his report.
