Reports of an end to plans for a new Alfa Romeo roadster based on Mazda’s MX-5 appear to have been confirmed this week, but not all hope is lost.
The project, which called for the new Alfa to be built alongside the MX-5 in Japan, had been finalised earlier this year, after first confirming discussions early in 2012.
The months since have seen Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne describe an ‘Italy-only’ production plan for Alfa Romeo, leaving a question mark over the hotly anticipated Spider’s future.
