The 2016 Infiniti Q30 hatch hasn’t yet made its local debut, but in the leadup to the premium small car’s arrival ANCAP has awarded the Q30 a 5-star safety score.

ANCAP CEO, James Goodwin, praised the Q30’s crash test results.

“This model performed well across the range of demanding physical crash tests,” Mr Goodwin said.

The Q30 scored 32.12 out of 38 points for adult occupant protection, 42.22 out of 49 for child occupant protection, and 32.97 out of 36 for pedestrian protection, boosted by the standard fitment of an active bonnet.

Mr Goodwin also praised the standard inclusion of autonomous emergency braking across the range, however the lack of a pedestrian detection function was noted.
