Volvo has announced pricing for its all-new XC60 medium SUV range ahead of the new model’s Australian arrival in October, revealing sharp entry level pricing that undercuts key rivals.

The new XC60 will arrive with three model grades and a range of four engines depending on which trim level you choose, with the cheapest version starting from $59,990 plus on-road costs.

Trim levels span Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design grades, mirroring the lineup of Volvo’s larger XC90 SUV. The engine range includes petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid four-cylinder variants all 2.0-litres in size as part of Volvo’s Drive-E engine family.

The entry-level Momentum will be available with a choice of two engine variants starting with the 140kW/400Nm D4 diesel, or the more powerful 187kW/350Nm T5 petrol from $62,990.

The Inscription features the same choice of engines with pricing for the D4 kicking off from $66,990 and the T5 from $69,990.

The top-spec R-resign picks up the pace with more powerful engines including the 173kW/480Nm D5 diesel from $73,990, the supercharged and turbocharged T6 petrol with 235kW and 400Nm from $76,990, and the flagship T8 which provides a combined 300kW and 640Nm from a plug-in hybrid system mated with a version of the T6 engine for $92,990 before on-road costs.

The T8 also packs in a rear-mounted 65kW and lithium-ion battery pack with Volvo claiming the hybrid SUV can zip from 0-100 km/h is 5.3 seconds.

All XC60 variants come with an eight-speed automatic and feature all-wheel drive as standard.

Full details of features and specifications will follow closer to the XC60’s local launch date, however Volvo has confirmed all models will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety specifications will be high with semi-autonomous technology to help steer the vehicle out of potentially dangerous situations thanks to a new Steer Assist system as part of Volvo’s City Safety suite, plus blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assist that benefit from the steering assistance.

Volvo's semi autonomous driving technology that steers, accelerates and brakes at speeds up to 130km/h is also available on the new XC60.
