Renault has given its small SUV entrant, the Captur, a new look and a streamlined range along with driveaway pricing across the board to give the funky crossover a leg-up in Australia’s booming small SUV segment.
The updated Captur features a redesigned front bumper and grille, as well as sporting Renault’s corporate face via C-shaped running lights mounted in the front bumper. Tail light internals have also been revised with a C-shaped detail.
The Captur range has been trimmed to just two models, the entry level Zen available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic or the upscale Intens which comes as an automatic only.
Pricing for the Zen starts from $23,990 driveaway with a six-speed manual or $26,990 driveaway for the six-speed automatic with standard features including a 7.0-inch touchscreen, a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, navigation, 16-inch alloy wheels and auto folding mirrors.
The Intens is priced at $30,990 driveaway with additional features including hands free parking, blind spot warning, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, a Bose sound system, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Both variants carry over the previous engine range, including a 66kW/135 0.9-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol in the Zen manual and a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 88kW and 190Nm for the Zen and Intens automatics, with front wheel drive enhanced via Extended Grip Control which optimises stability control settings for On-road, or Off-Road (loose surface) use with an Expert mode that hands control to the driver.
Both model grades come with a choice of ‘colour identity’ packs which add interior highlights in either blue, red or orange to the air vents, speaker surrounds and centre console. Exterior colour choices include high-contrast two tone paint schemes that pair either a black or ivory white roof with Atacama Orange, Cappuccino Brown or Ocean Blue lower body colours.
The Renault Captur is covered by a five year/unlimited kilometre warranty and three year capped priced servicing, with service intervals at 12 months or 30,000km.
