2017 Toyota Kluger Update To Appear At New York Auto Show

Toyota has confirmed that an updated version of its Kluger large SUV will make its debut at the New York Auto Show.

Referring to the update as “significant”, the new-for-2017 Kluger brings direct-injection for the 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, along with a newly developed “Direct Shift” eight-speed automatic transmission.

Currently, the Kluger in Australia offers up 201kW and 337Nm from its 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, matched with a six-speed automatic. 

Fuel consumption is rated at 10.2 l/100km for front-wheel-drive models, and 10.6 l/100km for all-wheel-drive models (but difficult to achieve in real-world driving).

Toyota says that’s all about to change, with the upgraded engine bringing more power with improved fuel economy, with economy further aided by the two extra ratios in the new automatic transmission.
