Toyota has lifted the lid on its updated Corolla sedan, ahead of a local arrival in the first quarter of next year.
The 2017 Corolla Sedan, seen here in a trio of preview images, follows the arrival of the updated hatch midway through last year.
Toyota says the updated styling is “distinctive and sophisticated”, reflecting the carmaker’s ‘keen look’ and ‘under priority’ design language.
Among the changes is a new bumper and grille combination, with a larger, lower grille to complete the new front look.
The top-spec ZR model (pictured here) will add new LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights, while all variants will score LED tail lamps.
ZR models also gain chrome finish door handles and a chrome garnish at the rear.
New safety tech for the 2017 Corolla Sedan includes lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam and Toyota’s pre-collision system - all of which are standard on the ZR and optional on other models.
"Close to a quarter of all Corollas sold in Australia last year were sedans, and the advanced design and new technology offered in this upgrade is further proof of Toyota's commitment to 'Kaizen' - the process of continuous improvement," Toyota Australia’s Tony Cramb said.
Buyers can likely expect the 103kW/173Nm 1.8 litre four-cylinder petrol engine to continue in the updated model, but Toyota is yet to confirm this.
Ahead of the updated sedan’s launch in 2017, the Corolla family will welcome a new hybrid variant when it arrives in the middle of this year.
