Subaru has announced pricing and specifications for its new XV hatch-based SUV ahead of the new model’s Australian arrival in June.

Like the Impreza hatch upon which the XV is based, a manual option is no longer available making the cheapest XV $1250 more expensive than than the last - but like-for like the XV 2.0i automatic comes down in price by $1250, starting from $27,990 plus on-road costs.

The XV range will be powered by a new version of the brand’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine which produces 115kW and 196Nm, up by 5kW compared to the outgoing model, with torque remaining the same. All XVs are equipped with Subaru's all-wheel drive system driven through a CVT automatic transmission.
