Subaru launches its all-new 2017 Impreza this week following a pre-sale campaign that began in October.

The new model introduces the Japanese brand’s Subaru Global Platform, a modular chassis architecture that’s set to underpin Subaru’s entire future range.

Australian buyers will be offered the new Impreza range in four variants, starting with the Impreza 2.0i featuring a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloth seat trim, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, and single-zone climate control.

The 2.0i-L adds a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, premium cloth trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift, tyre pressure monitoring, an upgraded trip computer display, front fog lights and daytime running lights, and Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist system.

Buyers seeking a little extra can opt for the 2.0i Premium with all of the 2.0i-L’s features plus factory-fitted satellite navigation and a powered sunroof.

The top-spec Impreza 2.0i-S brings leather seat trim, heated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, Active Torque Vectoring, side skirts, 18-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded safety package including blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert.

All Impreza models are powered by a 2.0 litre horizontally opposed four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115kW and 196Nm driving Subaru’s symmetrical all wheel drive system via a CVT automatic with seven stepped ratios.

Automatic stop-start, active grille shutters and an aluminium bonnet have been used to improve fuel efficiency with official fuel figures set between 6.6 and 7.2l/100km.

At the rear the Impreza hatch boasts a roomy 340 litre boot, with the sedan offering a more spacious 460 litres.

Standard safety features on all models include electronic and stability control, rearview camera, seven airbags, whiplash reducing seats, front seatbelt pretensioners, and rear ISOFIX child seat mounting points.
