Pricing now starts below $16,000 with a $15,990 (plus on road costs) starting price for the entry level Clio Life, which arrives in place of the previous $18,000 Authentique.
The new Clio range now aligns with the naming convention used on the Megane hatch and Koleos SUV comprising Life, Zen, Intens and GT-Line models.
The same 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine as before carries over for the Clio Life manual (the sole manual in the range) with 66kW and 135Nm with the automatic Life and all other variants powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 88kW and 190Nm.
Standard equipment in the Life model includes smart key entry with push-button start, reversing camera, rear parking sensors and new 16-inch alloy wheels.
The mid-range Zen adds C-shaped LED running lights, front parking sensors, satellite navigation, two-tone 16-inch wheels and gloss black interior trim.
The upscale Intens, packs in LED interior lighting, a premium stereo and navigation system, self-parking, ambient lighting and velvet and leather interior trim. The Clio also offers a range of free exterior and interior personalisation options to add a splash of colour to the car.
Those looking for something more sporting can opt for the Clio GT-Line which keeps the same 1.2 litre engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission as the rest of the range, but adds a rear spoiler and 17-inch wheels.
Clio Zen, Intens, and GT-Line can be optioned with a panoramic sunroof for $1000, while Intens and GT-Line variants can be equipped with a Bose stereo for $500.
The new Clio is on sale now, with un updated Clio RS range due in the second half of 2017
