Mercedes-Benz has introduced its entry-point to the AMG range for the C-Class model line with the introduction of the new Mercedes-AMG C 43, available in sedan, wagon (Estate in MB-speak), and coupe body styles.

In place of the barking V8 of the more upscale C 63, the C 43 provides 270KW of power and 520Nm of torque, thanks to a twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre V6 engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic and (unlike the C 63) 4Matic all wheel drive.

Borrowing technology from Mercedes’ Formula 1 involvement, the performance-tuned V6 is equipped with friction-reducing Nanoslide coating on the cylinders, increasing efficiency. A red aluminium engine cover insert sets the 43 engine apart.

The C 43 range include stands apart thanks to AMG front and rear styling with AMG’s Night Package black-out treatment, and 43-specific AMG 19-inch wheels.

Also on the standard features list, AMG sports exhaust, AMG Ride-Control sports suspension, LED Intelligent Light System, panoramic glass sunroof, Burmester premium sound system, and Comand Online navigation and infotainment.

The C 43 Coupe also adds standard heated front seats to the list.

Safety features include Collision Prevention Assist Plus with semi-autonomous braking, Driver Assistance Package Plus, nine airbags, active lane keeping, blindspot assist, Pre-Safe, Attention Assist, pedestrian protection active bonnet, tyre pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera.

Order books for the Mercedes-AMG C 43 are currently open, with customer deliveries set to take place from October.

C 43 Sedan - $101,900
C 43 Estate - $104,400
C 43 Coupe - $105,615

Note: Prices include LCT, but exclude on-road costs
