Mazda released the first official teaser image of its second-generation CX-5, set to undergo an official unveiling at November’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
Though shrouded in darkness in this first image, the 2017 CX-5 appears to flaunt a heavily chrome-lined lower window line, which wraps up to a more compact D-pillar window, giving the CX-5 a more sporting silhouette.
Subtle wheel-arch blisters and a rounded light catcher at the base of the front doors give a hint of how Mazda will evolve its Kodo styling language, with the CX-5 to be the first Kodo vehicle to enter its second generation.
Some cues from the larger CX-9 also appear to have made it across to Mazda’s medium SUV, though they’re more difficult to see through the darkness, including the chrome-edged lower intakes and upright shovel-nose grille.
