Lexus has updated the 2017 IS Line with a series of cosmetic changes, a new larger 10.3-inch infotainment display, revised handling, and new interior finishes.

Though not sweeping changes, the stylistic enhancements bring the IS closer in line with the RC coupe, with new LED headlamps, a more angular front bumper, and a more intricate LED taillight design complementing new alloy wheel designs.

As before, the IS Line is available with a choice of three engines all of which are unchanged from the previous model, starting with the IS 200t running a turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine and producing 180kW and 350Nm with fuel consumption rated at 7.5 l/100km.

Stepping up to the IS 300h brings an efficient naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine producing 133kW and 221Nm couple with an electric hybrid drive system producing 105kW and 300Nm - though combined power is rated at 164kW, The IS 300h hybrid uses just 4.9l/100km.

The flagship engine in the IS 350 is a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 generating 233kW of power and 378Nm of torque whith official fuel consumption set at 9.7 l/100km.

Each engine variant is available in three trim levels including Luxury with standard leather trim, powered front seats and steering column, dual-zone climate control LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels and 10-speaker audio.

The mid-grade F Sport adds unique front and rear bumpers, adaptive suspension, sports pedals, a unique LCD instrument cluster, sports seats, smart key card, 18-inch alloy wheels, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.

Moving up to the Sports Luxury brings a sunroof, powered rear sunshade, laser-cut wood trim, five-mode drive select including a new ‘customise’ setting, adaptive suspension, and a 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.

IS 350 F Sport and Sports Luxury models also include variable ratio steering, while the entire IS 350 range runs ‘performance’ front dampers designed to reduce “micron-sized” body vibrations.

Petrol models drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission with hybrid variants using a continuously variable automatic transmission, with rear wheel drive standard across the range.

Chassis upgrades include new suspension bushes in select locations, and aluminium lower suspension arms for the front suspension.

Safety systems have also been upgraded across the board to include Lexus Safety System+ which integrates lane departure warning with steering assist, ‘sway warning’ fatigue detection, and automatic high beam with the previous pre-collision and autonomous emergency braking system. Stability and traction control and 10 airbags are also standard.
