The 2017 Land Rover Discovery has received its official crash test rating from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), scoring the maximum available 5 star rating.

ANCAP’s assessment, based on physical crash data obtained by Euro NCAP, awarded the new Discovery large SUV a 90 percent adult occupant protection rating (34.25 out of 38 points), an 80 percent child occupant protection rating (39.45 out of 49 points) and a rating of 75 percent for pedestrian protection (8.8 out of 12 points).

Side and pole impact tests yielded maximum ‘good’ protection ratings, however frontal testing revealed insufficient pressure in the driver’s airbag, allowing the driver’s head to contact the steering wheel with points deducted accordingly.
