Hyundai has dropped the first official hints of what to expect from the 2017 i30 hatch with a series of shadowy teaser images giving a glimpse of what to expect when the nre hatch makes its Paris Motor Show debut.

The new i30 will be given a full, official reveal on September 7 in Europe ahead of its first official public outing at the Paris Motor Show in October.

A brief statement accompanying the images offers little in the way of details for the new model, however state of the art safety and connectivity are promised for the new i30.

Hyundai also describes an “efficient and dynamic powertrain lineup” for the new model - however it is worth keeping in mind that the European range varies slightly in its powertrain offerings compared to Australia in the current generation.

The biggest story so far is that of the new hatchback’s design, with Chief Design Officer of the Hyundai group, Peter Schreyer having this to say about the new i30:

“It’s a car for everybody - for the design of the New Generation Hyundai i30, we didn’t just look at one customer, we focused on a wide range of different people.

“The design is an evolution of Hyundai Motor’s design language with natural flowing lines, refined surfaces and a sculpted body to create a timeless appearance.” Schreyer said.

“ With the New Generation i30, we are introducing our further developed grille: the Cascading grille.”

With the teaser images likely to be of a high specification variant of the new i30 we can see that the current model’s deep grille continues, this time framed by chrome, and with a new take on the hexagonal outline of the outgoing model.

LED daytime running lights similar to those used on the Hyundai Ioniq are also clearly visible up front, topped by headlights with three circular elements internally.

At the rear LED lighting is used again, the wide tail lights stretch into the tailgate with high-set supplementary lighting sitting at the outboard edges of a bumper lip that form the lower edge of the tailgate aperture.

Official confirmation of what to expect under the bonnet, and inside the cabin, as well as a more detailed look at the exterior will follow early next month, so keep an eye on TMR for more information as it comes to hand.
