BMW has thrown some M Performance parts at its 1 Series baby performance hatch. The German carmaker is offering an Australian-only M140i Performance Edition, which is limited to just 15 six-speed manual and 45 eight-speed automatic examples.

The German carmaker is offering an Australian-only M140i Performance Edition, which is limited to just 15 six-speed manual and 45 eight-speed automatic examples.
Power comes from a 3.0 litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine producing 250kW and 500Nm, with an official fuel figure of 7.1 l/100km.
Priced from $71,900 plus on-road costs - which represents a price hike of $7000 over the regular model - the M140i Performance Edition is due to arrive in the second quarter of this year.
BMW has added some exterior touches to make the limited edition standout, including grey 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheels, carbon fibre exterior mirrors, gloss black grille and black rear fins as well as a roof-mounted spoiler.
