BMW has thrown some M Performance parts at its 1 Series baby performance hatch.
The German carmaker is offering an Australian-only M140i Performance Edition, which is limited to just 15 six-speed manual and 45 eight-speed automatic examples.
Power comes from a 3.0 litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine producing 250kW and 500Nm, with an official fuel figure of 7.1 l/100km.
Priced from $71,900 plus on-road costs - which represents a price hike of $7000 over the regular model - the M140i Performance Edition is due to arrive in the second quarter of this year.
BMW has added some exterior touches to make the limited edition standout, including grey 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheels, carbon fibre exterior mirrors, gloss black grille and black rear fins as well as a roof-mounted spoiler.
An M Performance exhaust system is highlighted by chrome tailpipes.
Inside, BMW has used Alcantara and carbon fibre extensively throughout the cabin adding an Alcantara M Performance steering wheel with a carbon fibre trim and red leather stitched central marker. It also comes with a carbon fibre central console and an Alcantara trimmed dash and the cloth sports seats with Alcantara trim.
Adding to its sporty flavour the model gets aluminum pedal covers while manual variants gain a carbon fibre gear shift knob.
A mechanical limited slip differential has also been added to manual versions, and each vehicle comes with a numbered plaque and an M Performance logo.
