The 2016 Tacoma is a styling update rather than a revolutionary new model.
A new-look front and grille dominates the styling, sporting a flattened hexagonal look and protruding above the bumper line like a ‘snout’.
Headlights are now smaller and more squared-off, while the foglights remain virtually unchanged.
Mirrors and doors appear identical from the side profile, although it’s possible this updated model brings new door handles.
Toyota has kept the technical details under its hat for now, with more to come in Detroit.
Of course, no-one will be surprised to learn that 4WD and a V6 engine will be available to the US market as depicted by badging on the pictured Tacoma.
For Australian Toyota fans, the Tacoma may offer a few clues as to the appearance of the 2016 HiLux pickup.
While styling will certainly differ for the local Toyota pickup, cues from the new Tacoma’s headlight and grille design can be seen on the 2016 HiLux in spy photos captured in September last year.
