Hyundai says its all-new Elantra small sedan boasts an interior comparable to what's offered in the medium car segment, while cabin quality and handling have also been substantially improved over the current model.

Revealed at an event at the company's Namyang headquarters in South Korea, Hyundai's new Elantra is also claimed to feature better refinement and noise suppression than before, consistent with the brand's moves to impart a more premium feel to its cars.

A slipperier shape is responsible for some of that extra refinement. With a coefficient of drag of just 0.27, wind noise is minimised while acoustic glass and low-profile windscreen wipers also help cut wind rustle.
