Honda has handed down new images of its new Civic Type R hot hatch, previewed here in its production form for the first time.
The images released today confirm that, as expected, the new Type R will not be identical to its concept forebear - although it will not be left wanting for enhancements inside and out.
The first of the three new tightly-cropped photos offers a glimpse of the new hero Civic’s styling and aero kit, building on the recently revealed Civic Sport with a new blacked-out and bolted-on lip and skirt pack.
A close-up view of the Type R’s front left wheel reveals a large black multi-spoke alloy design with ‘Time Attack’ style rim trim, sitting in front of a large cross-drilled brake disc and huge Brembo calliper.
All of that is tucked into a new bolt-on flared front guard with an integrated brake-cooling vent ahead of the front door.
Inside we see the same three-meter instrument layout behind the steering wheel that features with the regular Civic, finished this time in a strong red glow with Type R branding.
The promised ‘+R’ button can also be seen to the left and, importantly, the famously high-revving Type R’s meter shows off a 7000rpm redline.
